The positive is the 32 minutes were a season-high, and owners who remain patient should be rewarded when he does return to form.

Analysis: Resting on either end of a back-to-back appears to be the early norm for Thomas as he looks to get back into game shape.
|Jan. 11 7:45 PM PT8:45 PM MT9:45 PM CT10:45 PM ET3:45 GMT11:45 8:45 PM MST10:45 PM EST7:45 UAE (+1)04:4522:45 ET9:45 PM CTNaN: - Isaiah Thomas scored four points Thursday, going 2 of 15 from the field, as the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Toronto Raptors 133-99. Analysis: Thomas missed his first 11 shots, but will get a chance to think about it when he is rested Friday in the second of a back-to-back. Thomas failed to make at least one 3-pointer for the first time in 60 games. It had been the second-longest streak in the NBA behind Golden State's Klay Thompson (95).
|Jan. 9 9:46 PM PT10:46 PM MT11:46 PM CT12:46 AM ET5:46 GMT13:46 10:46 PM MST12:46 AM EST9:46 UAE06:460:46 ET11:46 PM CTNaN: - Isaiah Thomas scored nine points Monday on 3-of-11 shooting as the Cleveland Cavaliers fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves 127-99. Thomas pulled down one rebound and had three assists, accumulating a plus-minus of -20 in his 18:49 on the floor. Thomas went 1 of 5 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Thomas may have seen more minutes in his third game back from injury, but he was ejected for a hard foul on Andrew Wiggins in the third quarter that was ruled a Flagrant 2. Though this was the most disappointing of his brief appearances in a Cavs' uniform, the 2016-17 All-Star is still averaging 15 points and 3.3 assists in only 19.7 minutes per game since returning.

|Sep. 26 5:24 PM PT6:24 PM MT7:24 PM CT8:24 PM ET0:24 GMT8:24 5:24 PM MST7:24 PM EST4:24 UAE (+1)02:2420:24 ET7:24 PM CTNaN: - Making his long-awaited Cavaliers debut, Thomas scored 17 points Tuesday on 6-of-12 shooting as Cleveland topped the Portland Trail Blazers 127-110. Thomas did not grab a rebound but had three assists, tallying a plus-minus of +17 in his 18:56 of playing time. Thomas went 3 of 8 from behind the arc.
Analysis: The high-scoring point guard came out firing in his first game since suffering a hip injury in the Eastern Conference finals back in May. Thomas still won't be providing a maximum fantasy return in the near future due to a minutes restriction, but this performance showed he can contribute even if he'll be limited for a while longer.
|Aug. 25 8:43 PM PT9:43 PM MT10:43 PM CT11:43 PM ET3:43 GMT11:43 8:43 PM MST10:43 PM EST7:43 UAE (+1)05:4323:43 ET10:43 PM CTNaN: - The Cleveland Cavaliers examined Thomas on Friday in Cleveland and apparently there are questions about his recovery from a postseason hip injury. Cavaliers officials are looking at the test results, ESPN.com reported, and how it might affect the trade that shipped Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics earlier this week. There is speculation that the condition of his injured hip could void the deal.
Analysis: Tuesday's trade included Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round draft pick going to the Cavaliers for Irving. There's also the possibility that rather than voiding the deal the Cavaliers could ask for additional compensation such as another draft pick. Thomas suffered the injury during the playoffs and is rehabbing the hip. ESPN reported that he has not begun running.
|Aug. 22 4:27 PM PT5:27 PM MT6:27 PM CT7:27 PM ET23:27 GMT7:27 4:27 PM MST6:27 PM EST3:27 UAE (+1)01:2719:27 ET6:27 PM CTNaN: - The Celtics have traded Thomas along with forward Jae Crowder, center Ante Zizic and a 2018 first-round pick originally belonging to the Nets to the Cavaliers for fellow All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving.
Analysis: Thomas may be hard-pressed to match last season's career-high 28.9 points per game as the clear-cut No. 2 option in Cleveland, though he'll surely still have a prominent role on one of the league's premier offensive teams. The standout guard should come in highly motivated with a chance to possibly secure a max contract as a free agent next summer.
